About Massage Therapy

Franciscan Health Fitness Centers offers massage therapy performed by qualified certified massage therapists. Let our massage therapists help reduce muscle fatigue after your workout or reduce the stress of the day. Massage can be an important part of your health and wellness plan.

Did you know that besides relaxation, massage can also help promote healthy skin, improve circulation and joint mobility, reduce stress and anxiety and aid in the treatment and prevention of multiple conditions?

Highlights

  • Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage is a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints. This full body massage promotes relaxation, improves circulation, and helps increase joint mobility.

  • Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia. It is called deep tissue, because it also focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

  • Ear Candling

This centuries-old practice is used to relieve pressure, wax build-up and inner-ear blockage. The treatment involves soothing facial massage, followed by placing a slow-burning cylinder gently into your ear. The cylinder is then lit at the opposite end to create a vacuum. You experience no discomfort whatsoever as the vacuum helps to soothe and relax your ear.

  • Pre/Post Natal Massage

This massage focuses on the specific needs of the mother to be and the new mother. The massage aims to reduce many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as back pain, neck and shoulder stiffness, sore feet, fatigue and stress. Post-partum massage can help a new mother handle the physical demands of caring for a newborn by reducing tension and increasing energy.

  • Ashiatsu Massage

During this massage, the therapist supports herself with wooden bars suspended from the ceiling while applying different foot strokes along the body. Using the pressure of the therapist’s feet on strategic points along the back and spine, a push-pull-pumping affect is created on the soft tissue that surrounds the muscles and inter-vertebral disc space.

Sports Massage combines traditional massage with a variety of compressions, and stretches focusing on muscle systems relevant to a particular sport.

Depending on your individual needs, hot stone therapy can unlock tension deep within the muscles, relieve stress or help you achieve total relaxation.
